Symantec adds heterogeneous backup reporting; joins DPM vendor branks

Symantec entered the heterogeneous backup reporting market with its recent introduction of Veritas Backup Reporter. While many of the enterprise backup application vendors offer basic reporting features, they provide an operational point-of-view and only report on their own applications. Symantec broke the mould, joining a crop of independent ISVs who federate data for multiple backup applications and deliver business-level reporting.
