One in four UK web users were targeted via cold callers during 2010.
Fake and pirated antivirus software have long been major problems. In the past, rogue security applications have characteristically taken hold by way of screen pop-ups, but low internet telephony rates and the use of telephone fraud may now mean that it is almost as cheap to call a victim as it is to wait for them to land on a website.
