Like all magazine publishers, Condé Nast relies significantly on freelance contributors to fill its editorial pages. Most of the material now comes in via email, while the volume of electronic correspondence between editorial staff and freelances is also growing exponentially. Every user in the company now has the email facility on their desktops.
Communications between advertising departments and advertisers is increasingly channelled by email, boosted further by the International Department which looks after the company’s European operations. Add to that the growing volume of day-to-day communications between the London offices and with other Condé Nast Group companies worldwide, as well as with personnel travelling overseas, and it’s easy to see why effective email – and, even more importantly, email security – is such a critical facility for the company.
