To manage the security gateways, Nokia provides Nokia VPN Manager, included with each gateway, that enables a single point of configuration and monitoring for thousands of gateway devices. Nokia VPN Manager offers the capability to quickly build large VPNs using mesh, hub-and-spoke, or more complex topologies. As an all-in-one application, Nokia VPN Manager is used for all aspects of system management, including gateway deployment and installation, VPN and firewall configuration, network monitoring and troubleshooting, and gateway backup.
The Clients
As a combination site-to-site and remote access solution, Nokia IP VPN Gateways can work with a wide variety of client devices. Remote access users on common enterprise platforms, such as Windows 2000/XP and Windows Mobile 2003 SE, can simply activate the built-in VPN clients already included with the operating system, minimizing the requirement to install software on each remote user’s device.
To meet the requirements for mobility, Nokia provides a free remote access client for Symbian-based mobile phones, called Nokia Mobile VPN, with deployment and configuration by Nokia VPN Manager and Nokia Security Service Manager. In environments with hundreds, thousands, or hundreds of thousands of users, Nokia also has a suite of management tools to deploy software and configuration to mobile devices.
